Jorgen particularly focuses on issues related to capital and solvency requirements for banks and insurance companies (CRD/CRR and Solvency II), crisis management and deposit guarantee rules for banks (BRRD/DGSD), as well as the specific rules that apply to the savings bank sector regarding capital and structural changes. In addition, Jørgen works on a range of issues that arise for Norwegian and foreign companies in relation to the Financial Contracts Act, the Insurance Contracts Act, and the Insurance Mediation Act. Jorgen also closely follows the new capital requirements framework (CRD VI/CRR 3) - both standard method and IRB rules, as well as the new crisis management framework for pension and insurance companies (IRRD). With his background in the Banking Law Commission, Jorgen also has good knowledge of the various pension schemes within the private sector.
These factors have provided Jorgen with a solid foundation to assist financial institutions with licensing and supervisory-related questions both during normal operations and when expanding or changing business areas, as well as with regard to transactions and structural changes within the banking area focusing on financial regulatory matters.
Jorgen is also the editor of Thommessen's news platform (Tracker) within the financial area and has extensive knowledge of the various regulatory processes currently ongoing in the EU within the banking, insurance, payment service and securities sectors etc., as well as the Norwegian implementation of the final EU/EEA legal acts.
Jorgen holds an LLM from Columbia Law School with a particular focus on the regulation of financial institutions, and in this context, he has gained a good understanding and insight into specific financial regulatory issues in the USA, as well as financial regulatory questions that may arise across borders.
With his background as a manager for various Norwegian artists (and as a musician and record label owner himself) and his coursework in contract law and copyright law as part of his LLM from Columbia Law School, Jorgen also has a good understanding and insight regarding assistance to Norwegian artists and companies in the music and entertainment sectors, with a particular focus on contract drafting and negotiations, as well as master catalog transactions.
