Thommessen has entered into a lease agreement for new office premises in Bergen. At Marken 37, we look forward to further strengthening our presence on the west coast of Norway and facilitating a modern law office with excellent conditions for collaboration and development.
The new premises at Marken 37 combine historic architecture with modern solutions. Originally constructed as the Bergen Handicrafts and Industry Association’s Retirement Home in 1885, the building has since housed various art institutions. The property is now undergoing extensive refurbishment to meet the demands of a modern workplace. With a new atrium building in Norwegian natural stone, upgraded workspaces, and an enhanced garden, the premises will become an attractive hub for both employees and clients.
- For over 90 years, we have provided business law expertise to key industries on the west coast. The move to Marken 37 marks a milestone for Thommessen in Bergen. These new premises will provide a modern working environment that facilitates collaboration while preserving the building’s historical character. This is an investment in both our employees and our clients, and we look forward to further developing our presence in Bergen, states Jan J. Greve, Head of Thommessen’s Bergen office.
Thommessen will be the sole tenant of the building, apart from the restaurant area on the ground floor. This makes Marken 37 a dedicated "Thommessen house," tailored to meet the needs of both our firm and our clients. The new premises will include:
- A new atrium building serving as the main entrance and reception area
- High-quality lunch facilities and dining areas
- Modern meeting rooms and flexible workspaces
- A historic garden that will be accessible to the public
Marken 37 was acquired by EGD Property AS in 2024. Both EGD and Thommessen share ambitious goals for the building, aiming to create one of the city’s most attractive and functional office environments. The detailed planning phase will commence in the first quarter of 2025, with occupancy scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
We look forward to welcoming clients, partners, and employees to our new offices – where Bergen’s history meets the law firm of the future.
