Six new partners at Thommessen

We are pleased to announce that Camilla Bergby, Henrik Fabian Torgrimsby, Katinka Ranberg, Simon Ulleland, Morten Emil Bergan and Markus Kjelløkken will be joining the partnership at Thommessen, effective from 1 January 2025.

Each brings a strong commercial mindset, specialized expertise, and a proven ability to meet clients’ needs in critical areas such as renewable energy, infrastructure, tax, finance regulation, M&A, and capital markets, says Managing Partner Sverre Tyrhaug.

Meet our new partners

  • Camilla Bergby joined Thommessen in 2014 and has extensive experience in Norwegian and international tax law. She specialises in transactions, restructurings, and structural issues in the seafood, shipping, oil services, and related industries. Camilla has niche expertise in resource rent taxation for aquaculture and substantial experience with tonnage tax. She also has extensive experience in owner taxation, including planning and executing successions. As a partner, Camilla will continue to work broadly across all areas of tax law, with a particular focus on assisting clients in the seafood and shipping sectors.
  • Henrik Fabian Torgrimsby began his career at Thommessen in 2014. Over the past decade, he has gained significant experience within large scale construction projects, as well as complex supply contracts within the industry, energy and infrastructure sectors, both in Norway and internationally. Henrik has specialised expertise in a variety of contract types and extensive experience in negotiations with Norwegian and foreign parties. Additionally, he has broad experience in project financing, insurance, regulatory matters, and dispute resolution, enabling him to assist projects throughout their entire life cycle. Clients particularly value his commercial understanding as a critical contribution to their projects. Henrik has received several personal rankings for his work in project development, contracts, insurance, and renewable energy.
  • Katinka Ranberg has been part of Thommessen's M&A department since starting as an associate in 2015. As a partner, she will cover the full spectrum of M&A and equity capital markets transactions, including IPOs, capital raises, public takeover offers, and private M&A transactions. She will also continue to provide ongoing advice in corporate law and securities regulations for clients across a wide range of industries. Katinka is a highly skilled team player with solid experience as a project leader for numerous large and complex transactions.
  • Simon Ulleland started as an associate at Thommessen in 2016 and now leads the firm's real estate development initiative. He has broad experience advising on all types of development projects, from smaller property developments to large urban development and industrial projects. Simon has been a key resource in some of Norway's largest urban development projects over the years and also has extensive transaction experience, particularly involving transactions related to property development.
  • Morten Emil Bergan began as an associate at Thommessen in 2016. He started in the firm’s Banking and Finance department and has played a key role in developing Thommessen’s financial regulatory practice, where he now becomes a partner. Morten Emil has specialised expertise in capital markets law and securities law, focusing on insider information regulations, prospectus rules, and derivatives regulation. He is also particularly responsible for the firm’s work on bond listings, financial institution financing, and derivatives transactions. In addition to advising issuers, brokerage firms, and investors on securities law issues, Morten Emil has extensive experience in capital market transactions, both in the bond and equity markets. His combination of significant transaction experience and regulatory insight has made him a highly sought-after advisor in market regulation.
  • Markus Kjelløkken began his career at Thommessen and has played a central role in the development of the firm’s financial regulatory practice. He works broadly on financial regulatory matters, advising entities such as banks, insurance companies, securities firms, asset managers, payment institutions, and debt collection firms—both in transactions and in ongoing advisory roles. In recent years, he has been involved in several of the most high-profile and complex transactions in the financial market. Markus has developed unique expertise in acquisitions, mergers, stake purchases, asset deals, and collaboration agreements. He also advises on capital requirements and unique financing structures, such as securitisation. Markus provides ongoing advice on product launches, implementation of new regulations, financing of regulated companies, AML, and compliance. He has long-standing experience with the establishment of new regulated entities and advises on payment services and other matters in the FinTech sector. Markus is recognised as a "Recommended Lawyer" in the insurance sector.
