On Monday, 24th of July 2023, we received the incredibly sad news that our Stian had perished in a boat accident, only 36 years old.
Stian started at Thommessen as a courier back in 2009 alongside his studies. Through the courier job, he got to know us, and we got to know him. And in 2014, we were fortunate enough to have him join our team as an associate lawyer. Stian was later on an extended leave to DNB, who appreciated him just as much, and he was promoted to managing associate at Thommessen in March 2022. He continuously worked with banking and finance and was a highly skilled and valued employee. It was not only we, his colleagues, who appreciated working with him, but also everyone else he met at clients and in other law firms. He was someone everyone liked. We think one reason for that was that Stian was not one to promote himself, but simply was himself.
He was thoroughly solid, pleasant, inclusive, and joyful. Strong as a bear and gentle as a lamb. He took time for everyone around him, always had a smile ready, and a bear hug for those who needed it. An extraordinarily good person, meaninglessly taken from us far too soon.
Stian is married to our colleague Frida, and together they have two great children. Our thoughts are now with Frida, their children, and the rest of the family.
